On a night out with friends, I’ll sometimes order up to five or six cocktails, not counting what I drank before. It’s so easy to forget that those drinks are loaded with sugar and calories because they taste so good (and the alcohol doesn’t help)!
Well, I’ve done my research, and tested them out to make sure they live up to taste. Here are five drinks under 100 calories to satisfy during your nights out and your taste buds’ needs.
1. Ginger and Rye
This one’s a recent favourite, but it tastes so good. Gone are the days where whiskey is for your grandfather, add some ginger-ale and you’ve got a cocktail coming in at 100 calories.
Hint: Ask for diet ginger-ale instead and you’ll practically halve your calories!
2. Vodka Soda
Calories range with this one depending on the amount of vodka or the flavour of soda, but if you get a single shot and unflavoured soda water or diet ginger-ale, this drink will have just under 100 calories. Top with a lime and you’re good to go.
3. Gin and Tonic
A normal version of this drink can have less calories than the average cocktail, but more than you might want if you’re watching your figure. Try equal parts vodka and soda water, with a splash of tonic water. You’ll have a drink under 100 calories in no time.
I know this one’s a breakfast drink, but I couldn’t help but include it! A full glass of champagne only has 87 calories. This morning libation comes in at 100 calories if you use freshly squeezed orange juice.
5. Crystal Light and Vodka
I learned about this one years ago, but it still tastes great. If you’re having a few drinks at your house with friends before you head out, this one’s for you. Take one Crystal Light On-the-Go packet of your favourite flavour, a glass of water and vodka. Mix the contents together, and voila! A drink less than 100 calories.
