Top Five Favourite Holiday Looks by FLARE

A few weeks ago I attended the FLARE fashion show at Toronto Eaton Centre where Truc Nguyen presented minimalist and maximalist looks seen in December’s FLARE issue. Here are my favourite looks and trends from the show!

1. Bold Lip

A bold lip can make your outfit stand out well if done right and is a huge trend this season. For a daytime look, keep your outfit polished and the rest of your makeup simple. For an evening look, a great pair of heels and neutral colours will look fantastic with a deep plum or red lip. My favourite lipstick colour this season? Rebel by MAC.

2. Embellishments

The gold embellishments on this blazer and leggings give this outfit the perfect holiday boost. It has just enough sparkle to be festive. Add a statement necklace where needed to create more of an evening look if embellishments aren’t enough.

3. Feathers

I love the new feathered skirt trend this year! They can be worn for a casual or evening look with the right accessories, and look cute and trendy to boot.

Image4. Maximalize Your Look

The holiday season is the only time you have an excuse to go all out with your look. Love big earrings, glitter, and patterns? You can do it all in one outfit and it’s totally acceptable, and sometimes even expected. If your outfit’s really attention grabbing on top, tone it down with a black heel or peep-toed bootie. This is definitely my kind of look this season.

5. A Statement Coat

Never underestimate the importance of a good coat. We pay so much attention to what we’re going to wear to the party and under our coats that we rarely pay attention to what we’re going wear to enter the party. A good coat can ensure you make a great entrance from the moment you walk through the door.
